Inspiration: This was meant to be something entitled ‘Bright Light, Red Carpet’ based on a photograph of Mabie Forest in autumn with the sun shining through dark tree trunks. The tree trunks didn’t come out very dark, and I decided I preferred the paler pastel shades anyway. This is the first painting I’ve done when I didn’t get what I had ‘seen’ in my mind beforehand.
