Picture Name: The Mists Are Clearing
Where Painted: In studio at home based on a photo, with some artistic licence taken with the foreground.
Medium: Pastel on grey pastel paper
Size: 20ins x 16ins inclusive of mount. Supplied framed under glass in a plain 1 inch cream frame.
Inspiration: I woke up one morning to find mist had descended on the field beyond my garden. I had never seen anything like it and took a photo, then another a short time later when it had started to clear. I painted the first photo as a charcoal drawing, Early Mist, but later painted over the charcoal in pastels, based on the second photo I took. This was another picture from the Charcoal to Pastel exhibition in the Tolbooth, Kirkcudbright a few years ago.
