Picture Name: Pale Hydrangea
Where Painted: In studio at home from life
Medium: Watercolour on a ‘not’ surface paper
Size: A4 including mount supplied
Inspiration: I prefer hydrangeas when they have lost a lot of their harsh brightness. This one was very pale, but I could still see shades of blue, ochre, yellow and green. I sometimes paint hydrangeas with no pre-drawing, but I decided this one was more suited to painting each petal individually, wet into wet.
