Inspiration: Before I do the final drawing for most paintings, I will do at least one sketch. With goal celebration pictures such as these, I often need to do many sketches to get the complex combination of shapes right. I found this partly completed sketch and thought that it made a picture in its own right. I exhibited in in my ‘Flowers, Fruit and Football’ exhibition at the Tolbooth, Kirkcudbright in June/July 2017 alongside the finished pastel picture.
