Picture Name: Hydrangea Flowers 1
Where painted: In studio at home from life
Medium: Watercolour on a white ‘not’ surface paper
Size: 11in x 13in (including off-white mount supplied)
Inspiration: This is the first of 2 pictures I did of this small crocus vase of autumn hydrangea flowers. This one was done quite quickly without pre-drawing, therefore it is more about spontaneity rather than accuracy, while the second version was drawn in pencil first and painted much more carefully. I got the idea for doing this from a weekend painting course I went to in Kirkcudbright in the 1990s.
