Tree Reflection

Picture Name: Tree Reflection
Where painted: In studio at home from a photo.
Medium: Charcoal and white chalk on cream pastel paper.
Size: 16ins x 20ins inclusive of mount. Supplied framed under glass in a plain 1 inch black frame.
Inspiration: This was inspired by a photo taken by my brother-in-law of an old tree reflected in floodwater on the river Nith near Carnsalloch. Although the colours in the photo are lovely, I thought the scene would lend itself to a charcoal drawing. It was quite difficult to get the tree and its reflection to look anything like one another and the first attempt was torn up!
