Picture Name: Still life with white carnations
Where painted: In studio at home from life
Medium: Watercolour on a white ‘not’ surface paper
Size: 14in x 18in (including off-white mount supplied)
Inspiration: Still life pictures of white objects on a white background have appealed to me since I saw one displayed at the first Dumfries & Galloway Fine Arts Society exhibition I ever went to, and have attempted it myself a number of times since. I used as few colours as possible in this painting. The flowers were part of a bunch given to me when one of my temping jobs came to an end, and the ‘vase’ is an old bottle. I always enjoy the challenge of trying to portray these lustre glass beads in watercolour.
