Cherries
Where Painted: In studio from life
Medium: Watercolour on a ‘not’ surface paper
Size: 15ins x 12ins – inclusive of mount supplied
Inspiration: I inherited a cherry tree when I moved house last year. I like the bright colour of the cherries, especially when they are just starting to ripen and had wanted to paint them since I moved here, but missed my chance last year as I had an exhibition on at the time they looked their best. I managed to complete the painting in a day, as the cherries don’t stay fresh for long. I don’t know if they are an edible type of cherry, so once the painting was finished I put the cherries on the ground under the tree so that the birds could have them.
